Expansion Pass #258 - Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Review

[upbeat music] Okay, I guess, I guess there was no la, la, las in that song.

Oh, there they were.

Actually right at the end there.

La, la.

Anyway, music's really fucking beautiful.

It is a beautiful...

It's a beautiful video game.

I don't throw that word around very often.

I bet you I've told Shaylee she's beautiful like three times, and it's usually when she's like sick to try to make her feel better.

But she, she is beautiful, and so is this game.

I always struggle to get going when I write my notes for modern video game reviews because usually there's just a lot to unpack, and I don't wanna miss anything.

I don't really know where to start, especially when I'm trying not to spoil anything.

Like, try writing a 45-minute plus review about a game, especially a game as dedicated to or as, as story-based as this one, and not ruin anything while also telling about it.

It's not easy, but, uh, I think I did it.

I think we're gonna be okay.

There's a lot of meat on the bone here.

This is a 40-ounce T-bone, so let's jump in.

Doug Walsh said, "Very few games survive more than ten minutes on my hard drive.

Expedition 33 is what I wake up thinking about.

It's what I look forward to playing all day while I'm working, and it's what I have to pry myself away from in order to get sleep.

I'm already dreaming of what New Game Plus might contain." Uh, I, I gotta be honest, if I had time for New Game Plus, I'd probably be jumping in as well.

And I don't-- Dude, I put over 30 hours into this.

I don't fucking do that very often, okay? Like that's a, that's a very rare thing for me, especially when I'm in a bit of a time crunch.

I played the shit out of this game, and I, and I liked it a lot.

I really, really liked it.
