Darth Vader

Um, because a lot of what I want to be in those movies are in those movies.

This idea of making a character drama about the, the birth corruption and moral fall of the Darth Vader character is, It's all technically in there.

Yeah.

We do get to see the things that make him turn into sort of a bitter young man and to somebody who is eager to commit acts of violence.

I'm like, I don't want to.

It's like how Elon posted that photo of Anakin and Padme and the kids in full imperial regalia.

This is what they took from us.

No, they didn't.

There

are times I think it would be cool to explore that.

Anakin doesn't get all grossed up and he's like, this is going great.

I just don't think we need to get into the sex slave aspect of it.

I do think this is, not to get overly political on our comic book show, but I do think this is the death knell of the MAGA movement.

And I think you wrote a great piece about it with the Anakin Skywalker stuff and how, you know, America is racist, but we don't like to put our racism front and center.

Yeah, everybody likes to have a genteel racism.

They say, well, I'm not racist, but have you ever noticed? And that's what Americans like.

They also don't like being the bad guy.

And so with this Anakin posting, where all these right-wing people were posting about how they identify with Anakin Skywalker, like...

You know, the Jedi Council lied to him.

He had no other choice but to become Darth Vader.

And I was doing crazy graphics and green screen stuff because I had all these like, young, now very successful filmmakers, like right when they were starting out.

And so a lot of people sort of used to lovingly refer to me as the Darth Vader of like the New York City film scene in the like 2000s, because I was like the only person hiring who had an actual budget, but no one wanted to be making wedding documentaries or like bar mitzvah montages, but I paid well.

So it was like, it was this very funny thing I did.

And it's so funny when I go out with my wife now, Anytime we go to any kind of uptown event, whether it's the ballet or a gala or whatever, a fundraiser, inevitably, even a Knicks game, inevitably someone will come up to me and say, hello.

make sense on any sort of like logical sense because obviously darth vader has always been the villain since the beginning of star wars uh george lucas decides to make darth vader into luke's father like a year or two later probably or maybe at the same time uh and then so like the prequels with hayden and natalie and everybody was always leading to that there was no version of the story the woke left didn't make george change his mind that was always the story

The only thing I can figure is that it's somehow tied in with this Anakin posting thing, which is also like, I'm not, I'm, I stay away from Twitter, but I've, I've, I've heard things happening.

And like the whole, like right wing of Twitter has like taken on this, like, Oh, Anakin's actually the, he's the good guy.

He Darth Vader is actually the good guy.

And he was, you know, he was radicalized or whatever else, like all this stuff, which is like also stupid.

You, you, you're dumb.

But you have that backdrop if you want to do stories in between the trilogies chronologically and literally like Starfighter kind of is between 9 and 10.

And they're all like deciding whether or not they're willing and dealing with the Republic or the First Order.

or whatever resistance, you know, depending on where you are the timeline, but they're also coming together to really hold that like power balance and not let, for the most part, not let Black Spire get taken over one way or the other, you know, which is a thing you're like, I'm sure it's intentional, but as a kind of thing that you get to experience when you go to Black Spire and you're like, you know, on the one side where it's all, you know, Imperial flags and Thai Epsilons and Darth Vader walking around.

And then when you creep on over to the other side, you can see there's like a whole resistance area and camp maintenance sort of hidden quote unquote in the forests and ruins and that whole adventure.

And then you kind of have the middle where like people are kind of doing the daily life thing, but also like, Like, you can play that whole little game of like, you know, the rebel spies are over here and these people are secretly, you know, supplying the rebels or resistance or whatever, or supplying info or putting a stop to the stormtroopers, not letting them get too close.

And there's like a disturbance in the force.

So Luke kind of goes off on his own and he ends up fighting Boba Fett.

And then Darth Vader shows up because of, as I mentioned before, there's a disturbance in the force.

So at one point, like, Vader's kind of, like, terrorizing the whole town, much like his appearance in, like, Kenobi, the Obi-Wan Kenobi show.

It was, it was, Prowlis.

It was Chewie, Darth Vader, and Boba Fett.

It, especially to like all the little scenes where he's just like killing the various Imperial admirals become incredibly funny when those are Muppets and it's like actual Darth Vader.

Like, like there is like, obviously the story of Anakin is meant to, we're supposed to see ourselves as, in that character um but the lesson isn't to it's ask anakin skywalker's rise and fall is not an aspirational story it's not one that thinks like maybe the tail end in the beginning like all that bit in the middle not good okay but they're like posting these images of like dark side anakin be like oh he's the guy i'm just like you guys um media literacy i
