And the first event on night one was the men's para 400m freestyle race.
Eventually this one came down to Sam Downey essentially making it up on PowerPoints.
He was 30 seconds down on the clock, but The Stunning Swimmer came out on top.
Yeah, very much so.
As much as Kieran touched the wall first, but like you say, 30 seconds, he was the one then watching the scoreboard and watching the power points go lower and lower, hoping that his points would be higher than Sam Downey's.
Not to be in this case.

In fact, the only thing that was in doubt in this race was if he would break his own British record, and he got mighty, mighty close.
Yeah, that wasn't on the bingo card, was it? Definitely not for me anyway.
I put him in as favourite, and I spoke to his brother afterwards, and he was like, I can't believe you're not picking Jimmy every time.
I'm pretty sure that we haven't gone against him.
I'm not sure we picked against him,

No, I thought we'd be closer, if I'm
honest, but...
Only because I was surprised that Jimmy went 3.44.
I thought he'd go 45 maybe and go under the consideration time, which of course he did.
But to go within three tenths of his British record from, was it 2015? Something like that.
Like a good like 10 years ago.
It's an amazing swim.
Like that must be the race of the, or the swim of the meet so far.
