At the end of the day, I, I think there is too much of a gap between him and somebody like Sam Short, and he's even, and he even mentioned that when he expresses interest.

The four free, I said way too much on the live stream about how special Sam Short is at a four free, and we just need to chill with a three forty three.

And I'm sure she was very tired.

Something that also probably flew under the radar for Douglas was the fact that she did clock a 24-99 personal best in the 51. butterfly I believe that was during prelims and she's like 25 oh something in the final placing second behind Gretchen Walsh which is why it would have kind of flown under the radar a little bit but it's worth noting that that makes her just the third swimmer to ever break 25 seconds for the longest time it was only Sostrom Gretchen Walsh has joined the club and now Kate Douglas has entered the club but when it's right next to Gretchen Walsh going so fast it's a little easier to forget that one Another swimmer that had just a phenomenal meet was Sam Short.

Now he wasn't breaking world records, but he was breaking records.

In the 400 freestyle, he clocked a new personal best of 340.52. Not only is that a personal best, not only was it a very fast swim and strong showing out of him, It also breaks Ian Thorpe's meat record, which is a massive accomplishment, especially in a 400 freestyle.

Luke Hobson got his hand on the wall first with a 143.85, only a little bit off of his personal best, but also a very quick swim and under 144.

I believe he also broke an Ian Thorpe meet record.

Like we talked about with Sam Short, that is incredibly impressive.

The huge one, though, is the fact that behind him, just 11 100ths away, was Gabriel Jett in a 143.96. That is a huge personal best for him.

I'm today's host, Coleman Hodges, and joining us today, he swept the distance freestyle events at the Commonwealth Games this summer, winning the 400, 800, and 1500, but he was not done there.

Then he went to the Pan Pacific Championships in Irvine, California, and not only swept the distance podium there, winning the 4, 8 and 15 once again, but in the 400 he went a 340.5, breaking Ian Thorpe's legendary Pan Pacific Championships record from 1999, a record that was older than this athlete, as well as swimming a 1433.9 in the 1500 free, breaking Grant Hackett's legendary Australian record from 2001, another record that is older than today's guest, Sam Short.

I was really focusing on s- trying to stay locked in for Pan Pacs, you know.

It's really easy to switch off and think the job's done, but I really tried to recover as best I could.

Um, old Sam probably would've just switched off and gone, "Yeah, yeah, I've, I've, I've ticked the box.

Let's just go to Pan Pacs and have a good time." But I was really heavily motivated.
