There is no other place where we could begin this season preview show and the regular season here on Preds Radio without remembering our friend Brent Peterson, who died two and a half weeks ago after his 20-plus year battle that he won with Parkinson's by living so long with it and helping so many through the Peterson Foundation for Parkinson's.

Willie, every time we go to the rink, I can't not think about Brent and how pivotal he was to everything that the Predators are and always have been when he was an assistant coach, a broadcaster, an ambassador, and a Parkinson's fighter.

And last week, the entire Predators family, near and far, got together at Bridgestone Arena to celebrate Brent's life and lay him to rest.

And it's been an emotional few weeks and a tough time for many, but we choose to find joy in the hockey, and that's what Brent would want.

back right after he passed away, I remember the year or two leading up to the Predators actually taking the ice.

There was a long process of the city being granted an expansion franchise and then all the things they had to do, sell the tickets and build the arena and hire coaches and hire scouts, hire a staff.

All of that happened And the organization knew philosophically they couldn't just have a hockey team.

And they made the proclamation that, look, they're going to be about the entertainment.

In fact, I think I would rank Brent Peterson number one on that list of contributions to the franchise in those areas.

Did a great job contributing behind the scenes to the hockey ops department and did the radio broadcasts up front in front of everybody in a great way.

I smile every time I think about the games I got to do with him, but also just the time I got to spend with him.

As giving as he did setting the example for the organization and helping so many other people.

And he's left us all these great elements of how you run a franchise, how you live your life as an individual, how it goes beyond just what your job is.
