Welcome back to another episode of Pitstop Fracas. where we review the Monaco Grand Prix. This week’s panel consisted of; Richard Ranch Kwame We spoke about; Quali All The Penalty Drama Kimi's 5th Win…
So as you know, every year, anytime, you know, the calendar's announced or the season begins, we know we hear the same debates every season with Monaco.
"Oh my God, take it off the calendar.
We don't care about its heritage.
Oh my God, it's boring, procession," yada, yada, yada, yada.
All that nonsense, right? But, but one thing we can guarantee is that quali is always a banger, and this, this weekend didn't disappoint.
So Kwame, talk to me on your thoughts on quali, and is that the best quali sessions of the far-- Sorry, of the season so far for you? And also, is there anything that may have surprised you? Or did it basically meet your expectations, at least of terms of, let's say, the qualifying order, shall we say?
I think, um, so I think for me, quali Monaco, as you said, is always gonna be, you know, quite exciting just because the track it is, it's, um, very... it's a very tight track.
You know, it's a very fast track, so- Because the track is so fast, it means-- the track is so tight, it means that, you know, overtaking is always going to be a struggle.
Obviously, in the current years, it's harder now with the, you know, size of the cars and, you know, et cetera, et cetera.
So that makes, you know, getting pole more important, right? Um, so I think for that factor, the pole quali in Monaco is always going to be quite important.
To add to that as well, um, I feel like Canada is actually pretty good, but I feel like this is definitely up there in terms of, um, competitiveness.
So I think, you know, we talk about in Australia, we're talking about, you know, um, these regs, it might not be best for qualifying, you know.
People take off the-- have to deal with the-- that out of the engine.
Definitely, definitely, definitely was, you know, more exciting for sure.
Um, in terms of any, uh, s- um, thing I did expect, not really.
I feel like the top 10 has kind of been, you know, norm procedure, in honesty.
Um, having...
Well, I'm not going to spoil it just yet, but, um, yeah, I feel like there was no real major, in my opinion, like, shocks, I feel like with, with quali.
Um, apart from, you know, the, I'd say Q3 and the, you know, track getting faster on surprise laps, which we'll get into later.
Yeah, I mean, Q3 absolutely slaps.
We had, I think, what was it? Charles, he was kind of...
How would I put it? Um, I would say being-- It was kind of leaving it late in terms of getting his banker lap in, basically.
Yeah.
And then when he did-
So he was eight mids
