Terminator 2: Judgment Day

The protagonist, Danny, is shocked to come upon a standee for Terminator 2: Judgment Day, starring Sylvester Stallone, connecting this moment to the comparable standee glimpsed briefly in The Lost World: Jurassic Park, which advertises a fictitious Schwarzenegger starring King Lear film, which itself connects to Last Action Hero's nearly identical joke of an adaptation of Hamlet starring Schwarzenegger proxy Jack Slater.

Like when they blew up the building in Terminator 2.

Yes.

Dude.

The thing that comes to everybody's mind, and I hate to call it the classic film, but it is 35 years old, I think, at this point.

If you've ever seen Terminator 2, you might remember that scene at the very beginning of Sarah Connor in the park.

And then all of a sudden, the machines attack humanity and kind of annihilate the city.

Yeah.

But all of these things are driven by bad human actors and that's what we need to work on.

What are people doing with AI and what should the penalties be to stop those? Not this Terminator 2 thing like that AI is going to take over the world.

That is really a big mistake in my opinion.

So Vice President Kamala Harris, former Vice President, called for an international treaty to establish AI safeguards.

Didn't this play

out in Terminator 2? Didn't we do this? Wasn't that like 1992? Didn't we do it in Mission

Impossible three years ago? Basically an AI thing.

We should have thought about

The NATO war against Russia is about killing both sides.

Remember how in Terminator 2 Skynet hijacks the West nukes and Russia's nukes to take out the primary enemy humanity.

Just replace the word human with whites as the same plan.

What do you make of that?

It's like you forget the way the steps come down as liquid metal.

This is five years before T2.

Yeah, in fact, James Cameron had said when he saw that, that's what made him think he could actually do it.

Yeah.

Beyond doing a full George Lucas and going back through and cleaning everything up.

And I think that stuff adds a charm.

It's not as slick as it is in T2.

Obviously T2 had a much higher budget and they'd had much longer to play around with those effects.

So, uh, Yeah, it would have been great to have her, but she is sorely missed, absolutely.

But I think we really tapped into something that has a big appeal and that was actually within reach, right? And that hasn't been talked to death about, right? So it's not like a Terminator 2 reunion.

It's like they do that all the time at conventions and stuff.

And I know Michael goes to conventions, but outside of Michael, I don't think anybody else in that...

And Avatar.

The Abyss has climbed the most.

So I think if my own lore is correct here, my ranking is Titanic, Terminator 1, Terminator 2, and then The Abyss.

That's my ranking.

So Dean said, it's go, go, not cry, cry.

I cried like a child at the end of Terminator 2.

You know, with the thumb and the molten metal.

I'd not interrogate that any more than that.
