Bobby JoPanelistIrisPanelistKarenPanelistManuelPanelistSeanPanelistBobPanelistJoePanelistTerryPanelistIf you go to the handout, and number one says, "Neuroscientists are beginning to understand the amazing facility infants have for learning language.
By six months of age, babies can understand all the sounds that make up the seven thousand plus human languages.
But there's one catch.
In order for this to happen, the baby must be spoken to." I'll let that sink in for a moment.
Babies have an inherent capacity to understand language by the age of six months.
But if no one speaks to them, they aren't able to put it into practice.
And that was a fascinating piece, I thought.
In order for babies to understand, they need to be spoken to.
It is God who's created this ability for a purpose, one of which is so that He can speak to us.
The gift of prophecy is a way God has chosen to communicate with those who can no longer commune with Him face-to-face.
So in the garden, Adam and Eve lost the ability to have face-to-face conversation with God, and that was the, the reality, that God, speaking with God was now dangerous for human beings because of sin.
According to the lesson, God uses the gift of prophecy for five crucial purposes, and what I want you to do while we're doing this is number two.
While we're doing that, I want you to be thinking, do these five cover everything, or would you add something? I'll give you that opportunity in just a moment.
According to the lesson, there's five crucial purposes for prophecy.
Third, to equip the church for mission.
Fourth, to provide spiritual encouragement to believers.
And fifth, to awaken sinners and call them to repentance.
So can you think of any other purposes for prophecy that are not on this list? Bobby Jo.

Would it be wise to add the element to safeguard, in other words, to protect the church from the insecurity of uncertainty, to protect us from radical conclusions or irrational conclusions and radical positions from being blown from one new idea to the next?
Okay, so how would you say that in phrase form If we wanted to add it to this list, 'cause each item on this list is kind of like a phrase or a short clause.
