Um, like, it's up there, I think, as one of the top animes ever, um, as far as movies go.
Um, so it, it takes place, uh, during a time period in Japan, um, and I, I apologize in advance how we butcher all, probably gonna butcher a lot of names while we do this pod.
[laughs] So it's, uh, takes place during the Muromachi era, which is, like, 1300s to, like, almost 1600s.
Um, and it's based around our main character, who's Ashitaka, and we kind of just meet him in, like, his village kind of thing.
And all of a sudden there's this crazy, weird thing that's coming from the forest, like, about to attack his, um, village, and it, it kind of takes the form of, like, a boar, but a boar kind of covered in, like, weird worms.
He's able, with his, his bow and arrow, he kills what th- they've, they've labeled a demon, 'cause it's, they don't know what else to call it.
He kills it, um, but he gets sort of like, um, afflicted by it, or he gets the, the, the curse affects him, and it specifically affects one of his arms.
And then, um, it's, the thought is that if he doesn't figure out what's going on, he's basically just gonna get consumed by the curse and eventually die.
Uh, so he takes this journey, uh, westward to try to figure out where this, this demon, this boar came from, and try to figure out if he can, he can reverse the curse so he doesn't get killed.
[laughs] Um, so he goes on a little bit of an adventure, but he ends up in a, a place that's called Irontown, um, and it's an area that they're intentionally heavily deforesting because they're making iron.
