Neil MorrisonHostGuys, before we start talking about this Grand Prix, round 17 are we on now of MotoGP in 2022, 2026 rather.
I opened my Instagram this morning and one of the first posts I saw was from Christian Daniel Jr. who listeners and viewers will be familiar is the new tech three motor three rider for 2027 has also been a bit of a star of the red bull motor gp rookies cup for the last couple of years and it was a very sad post that christian's father had passed away apparently a victim of some of the extreme weather we've had these last couple of days in barcelona with the flooding and it was quite shocking really it's still trying to process that news because Christian Daniel was somebody that we knew, somebody who came up frequently to the media center to chat to us, to let us know what's going on, give us his views.
And to be honest, I'm really sort of struggling to find more words to explain, well, how I'm feeling.

Also, he was a really good father in that he really supported Christine Daniel Jr.

But you never got the impression, you know, there are some parents that you feel are really pushing their kids into this.

And he was like, he backed his kid to the hilt, but he didn't feel he was putting a lot of pressure on him.

And he was always open and community-driven, just very, very intelligent and just a lovely man.

I remember sitting beside him in the media centre in Assen and we were speaking about different books that we've read or films that we've seen and Yeah, it wasn't like you were just always talking about racing.

I think the tragedy, beyond the human tragedy, which of course is horrible in such circumstances, is that from sacrificing so much to get his son to the World Championship, because he's been central to that story, is that he won't get to see his son race at that level.

And I do hope, I mean, there's been such an outpouring of support from here in the paddock this weekend to Christian Daniels Jr. and his whole family, particularly on social media where he's been incredibly eloquent in what is such a horrible time for him with his post in tribute to his dad on social media, that he can in some way try and take the strength that he's getting from the hop paddock and try to be a success at Grand Prix level for his dad.

I'm sure that will be a I'm sure it's going to be so, so difficult for him to embark on that journey without the person who's been by his side throughout.

But yeah, he's certainly not going to be short of supporters in this paddock because the outpouring of warmth and strength towards him has been very noticeable.
