Panic Time For Cubs Bullpen?

We are starting, and we're double-dipping with a couple of topics that overlap as far as, you know, what the nuts and bolts of it contains.

And it's the bullpen for the Cubs.

And kind of trying to take a pulse on Cubs social media, see what the fans are talking about.

And outside of the PCA MVP campaign, And Alex Bregman, who has been incredible for such a long stretch now, Jason, to me, and I don't know if you see it differently, and I will even say this, on the Northside site yesterday and this morning, I'm seeing multiple topics talk about the Cubs bullpen and where the concern level's at and how valid the concern level should be, whether or not, you know, not whether or not, what reinforcements will be coming and how many of those names could be peppered into the bullpen.

But we're going to start with kind of the concern level of the bullpen for the postseason.

And I know that's looking ahead, and I know it's September 8th, and we've got a few weeks left of the regular season, but the Cubs' postseason percentage still sits above 99%, so it would take something catastrophic for them to not make the playoffs.

But we know when...

these games in the postseason can get condensed, a lot of pressure gets put on the bullpen.

You need multiple guys out of the bullpen to step up because, you know, we're not going to see what happened with Matthew Boyd on Labor Day where he goes seven innings and then they try to push it a little bit further.

You're going to have to rely on a lot of those arms.

And so I'm wondering, Jason, just to get things rocking and rolling here, where is your concern level with the bullpen? And if you want to talk about it as a whole, if you want to break down maybe a couple of the names, just – As always, take it whatever direction you want because it does seem to be the talk of the town with a lot of Cubs fans right now.

Yeah, and you know, I think there's there's a time with a lot of baseball where you can kind of shrug your shoulders and you can say, listen, baseball is weird.

Baseball happens in, in large swaths of the summer at any point.

And this is something I've talked about before.

I'm going to mention it again, that at your lowest, it's never as bad as it probably feels like you are.

And it never is as good as it feels like when you're on top of the world.

Right.

With that said, I, it, If you're concerned about the bullpen, you probably should be right now.

I think if you don't have any concerns with the bullpen, you're living in a fantasy world that I don't live in.

And I don't want to completely panic about the bullpen.

But I had mentioned this in the 1060 Discord chat on the game day thing.

And I'll bring it here.

And it's that we are... we are at a point now with the bullpen where it almost doesn't matter what happens between today and day one of the playoffs, right? You said 99% chance to make the playoffs.

Like we, if you are freaking out that they're not going to make the playoffs, they're going to make the playoffs.

Like I'm not, that's, that's a panic that you've gone too far, but, but you know, I, no matter what happens between today and that first game, you know, the Cubs are going to go into the playoffs this season and it's, the list of guys that you feel comfortable pitching in important situations will probably be none.
