Monument Pod: Two Weeks

Oh, what's not to love, Anthony? I mean, this has been about a- a- as good a- a start as, as a call-up can have.

And let's start with the game, uh, tonight, uh, in Baltimore and, I mean, he's in the middle of every rally.

He, you know, he continues to, to get hits, get on base.

Um, a- a- and the thing for me that stands out with him is the fielding.

I mean, he's such a good fielder.

He's got a great arm and feel like he makes these really, you know, tough plays look easy.

Um, that's the thing that I'm really impressed with.

Uh, you know, Lombard in the field.

But he also, you know, he's got a good bat and he's going the other way.

He's going up the middle.

I mean, what, what is not to love?

I hear you.

Um, I, I knew the defense was Major League ready.

You know, I've seen him do it in the minors.

I saw him in Somerset a lot, and you felt that that m- that the defense would translate pretty quickly.

And, um, even if that was the on- not the only thing, but if that was like the biggest thing you were getting out of him, I think that's worth the call up right there.

Because we all know Volpe's defensive struggles.

We've seen him try to turn double plays and like the, the Yankees were one of the worst at doing that for a while.

Uh, and like in Lombard's first game he affected that, and like was turning like slick double plays.

The arm strength is just out of this world.

Uh, the range, it's smooth.

It doesn't look clunky at all.

Um, it, it's everything you would want.

I said I was at the one, the, I think the only game he's made an error in the Major League, so, you know, that's my fault.

[laughs]
