Kyle KarrosGuestThe race for National League MVP is more compelling than any of us would have thought a few months ago.
But with Shohei Ohtani missing considerable time on the mound, there have been others like Pete Crow-Armstrong, who have built a pretty good case, and PCA's in the middle of a great year.
Back to talking about the Dodgers and the Cubs again with Eric Karros and Kyle Karros.
You watch Shohei all the time, um, and I'm sure you're gonna make a case for his being the MVP for a fifth time in his career, which is unbelievable.
But is there room for somebody else to sneak in here? Does he have to get back to the mound for you in order to win that MVP?
No, I, I don't think he has to get back to the mound 'cause of what he's already done.
But he's going to have to turn it up offensively, right? I mean, he's been great, but he's not the guy that, you know, was the 50/50.
And PCA, the way he's playing, you know, obviously he's, uh, you know, he's closed the gap.
But I, I think if Shohei doesn't pitch at all the rest of the way, I think offensively he's gonna have to, to raise it a notch just to, to keep that, to keep that mantle as the MVP.
It's interesting that we're even talking about this, man, because, uh, three months ago, it was, you didn't even have a conversation here.
So Kyle, w- when you put your eyes on Shohei, I'm sure you're slack-jawed like the rest of us, and probably at a whole different level because you play and you're, you're watching him from field level.
Is there anybody else that you've looked at where you've been, "Oh, my goodness, this guy's skill set is unbelievable"?

I mean, Shohei's definitely in a league of his own, um, just 'cause he's doing it on both sides of the ball.

Um, even watching him in the WBC was pretty unreal, and then to see it in person.

Um, and he, I think he went- Right center at like 110, which is kind of unheard of.
