A Waterfowl Roundtable: Bringing Hunters Together

Hey guys, my name is Joe Vassallo with Midwest Flyways.

I got asked when I was at the Delta Waterfowl Show if I could come on a podcast, uh, Delta Waterfowl Podcast, and I said absolutely.

And when I got there, there was Ramsey Russell, Jeff Stanfield, the Filthy Spoon Podcast, Billy Campbell, and Joel Brice.

And I was just a little, uh, taken aback.

I was like, "Oh my gosh, all these different podcasters at the same time are gonna come and talk.

This is going to be a little bit chaotic, right?" Because you got six people that just love to talk.

And it was awesome.

It was so nice.

The whole reason that we got together for the podcast was to talk about the unification of the waterfowl community.

And it was just like a...

It was a really good podcast, hearing from, like, my age group and, you know, people in their 50s and 60s, uh, talking about what waterfowling used to look like and how it looks like now, and how we're all just trying to do the same thing.

We're trying to get more people into waterfowl hunting, because it is a dying sport, and we wanna keep that tradition alive.

That's hits really hard as Midwest Flyways, and so that's one of our main reasons for doing it, is to pass on the tradition to the next generation, right? And so I said, "Absolutely, I'll come on the podcast." And it was so cool hearing everyone else's explanations as to how, like, what we can do to get more waterfowlers on board, and just, like, treat each other better.

Like, the community, like what we see on social media is pretty gross sometimes, and we all just wanna, like, have better hunting, we wanna have more ducks.

And so if you take a second and listen to this podcast when we were in Des Moines, I think you guys will really enjoy it, and I think it'll make you feel a lot better of, like, the direction that waterfowl as a community is going into.

It made me feel really good, and it made me wanna implement some more things in our business model and just, like, how we run podcasts as well, so.

And honestly, it was just, like, a huge honor to be asked to be on the Delta Waterfowl Podcast with all these other huge podcasters and these people that are doing amazing things in the, uh, the waterfowl space, and just the outdoor space in general.

So big thanks to Joel for having me on, and Billy for inviting me, and, uh, all the guys for being great, and everybody taking their turns and listening and, you know, bouncing ideas off of each other.

And I don't know, it was just an incredible honor to be able to talk with Ramsey Russell and Jeff Stanfield and Billy and Joel, and the guy from the Filthy Spoon Podcast.

He was awesome.

He's hilarious.

I just started listening to his podcast.

He makes me laugh pretty hard.

So yeah, I mean, absolutely go and check out these other creators that were on board, too.

I think they have great podcasts, and I think you guys, uh...

I definitely learned some stuff that day as well.

I learn pretty much every time I talk to other people, 'cause I don't know a whole lot.

But, but yeah, hopefully you guys enjoy as well.
