You know, we had, yesterday I went looking around for dove, and we've got a little water hole right at the edge of Knox City, and there was a dozen gadwalls sitting on it last night.

I'm

telling you, they always screw me.

It's not Houston.

It's a cafe in Knox City, a motel in El Dorado, a convenience store outside of Uvalde that does a month of business in one weekend.

Dove season is one of the few very reliable economic events that moves urban money into small, rural Texas towns on a fixed calendar every year.

Now, I have to be straight with you.

Okay.

Well, you should pry yourself out of, uh, Knox City and, and go take advantage of some of these hunting offers that you get.

Well, the problem is is during hunting season we're busy.

Just like right now, we've got a podcast today and I got a bunch of office work to catch up on, but tomorrow I've got 40 guys gonna be here for three days, and so I can't leave.

This could be an interesting thing, because- Back, even back when I first moved to Knox City, which would've been in the mid-'90s, and I would talk to an old-timer that was 70 years old back then, and he talked about growing up in the '30s here.

Well, before they started putting irrigation wells in here back then, there was water everywhere.

Like just there was springs all along the river and stuff.
