Which Religion?

And in this series, we are trying to answer the big questions in life.

And as 1 Peter 3.15 says, paraphrasing it, we need to be always ready to give reasons for the hope you have.

And in doing so, the Bible appropriately adds We have to do it with gentleness and respect, with love.

And we are attempting on this series to answer those questions.

Does God exist? If He does, which God is the true God? And if we found the right God, are we following the right path? The one that He actually wants us to walk in? On sermon one, we answered the first question.

On sermon two, we answered the second question.

And now we're going to start answering the third question and finishing on the next sermon as we end the series.

And so, as I mentioned, sermon one asked the big question, does God exist? We started with...

not straight on the Bible, but with probabilities, with design, with facts that we can see on the scientific world, with science.

And we discovered that there is a lot where science and the Bible actually agree, contrary to some of the bad press the Bible gets.

actually what science actually says it, agrees to a high degree with the Bible, even to the point that the universe had a beginning.

We went through several things that are harder to explain, like the complexity of life on Earth.

It's so many coincidences that's improbable that that happened.

Also, the design that even the most simple organism has is too complex, demands a designer.

That's an idea that in scientific terms is called intelligent design and has been a thorn on the flesh over the last 30 or 40 years.

in the people that are still pushing for evolution.

And there's one thing that we also look is the fact that we have some moral characteristics.

That cannot be explained by science alone.

Why we do have that thing about right and wrong, doesn't matter if I was born here in Midland, middle of the jungle on the Amazon, Africa, Asia, or in the middle of an island just by myself.

I would still have the same basic ethical principles that are built in in my being.

That is something that nothing but design can explain.

And that was the general tenor of the first sermon where we got to a point as we compare scripture with what we can see on the natural world around us.

We called affirmed that believing in God is far from being rational.

It is a very rational choice, not a leap on the dark.

On the second sermon, we went a level deeper because as we co-establish by looking to nature alone and to the issues of design and complexity and all the probabilities and all those things, we could see that there was a God, there was a creator, there was a designer, but by that alone, we cannot see who is it.
