On this week's Steelers Chalk Talk podcast, we look at Pittsburgh's early struggles from Mike McCarthy's preferred 11-personnel groupings, and why this week against the Bengals would be a great time…
Again, anything I'm about to say right now has to be taken, I don't want to say with a grain of salt, but maybe like with the caveat that most teams in the NFL don't exactly know who they are right now.
Who are the Steelers on offense? If you watch them in week one, you probably would have said, well, they're a team that needs more time together in order to master the execution of Mike McCarthy's offense.
Then you watch them last week against the Patriots and the, the opinion changed, you know, the opinion then was, this is a train wreck.
They're no better than they were under Arthur Smith or Matt Canada or Randy Feitner.
And while some of that may be true, it's probably premature to condemn the entire Steelers offense to futility for the entirety of the 2026 season.
Where are they right now? And where do they need to go in order to be successful both this week against Cincinnati and big picture? Well, where they are right now is admittedly a disjointed unit that has not had enough time together recently.
whether it's from a personnel standpoint or a scheme standpoint, to be good really at anything.
So EPA, I talk about EPA a lot because I think EPA is probably the most instructive metric you can use to measure a unit, offense or defense.
