Meet Me At Musial, Episode 429, Fireworks Before the Fourth

Cardinals win a game last night.

And Alan, I got to say, after that first inning, I didn't see that coming.

Honestly, the way that game was going, I expected it to end 5-3 after the first.

Yeah, I didn't have a lot of hope with the offense coming around just because of what we've seen and how things have been the past three weeks to a month and whatnot.

I thought the same thing.

I was like, well, you finally jump out, take that lead, and turn right around and give up five in the first.

I was like, yeah.

Man, I felt like the well had run dry from both clubs.

And to see that they showed some grit and came out and battled was really, really nice.

And to walk away with a win in Atlanta is huge.

Yeah.

I mean, again, you and I were talking before the show, Atlanta has not played well over the last little bit.

They've had injuries, but they're still a team that's leading their division.

They're still a very talented team, and you're going into their ballpark, and you win two of three.

And, you know, the third game was close.

So I think if you're going to use that as a judge, which...

You know, I guess it's up to you if you want to.

I think that tells you that even though the Cardinals have kind of hit a bit of a rough patch, they may not be too far away from those teams that are going to clearly go into October.

Yeah, the... it's such a transitional, like part of the schedule right now to where, uh, you have, uh, you have, you go into, to hostile territory with a roster.

That's really, really good.

We do know they're scuffling.

We do know they have some injuries, but they're still the Braves are still leading the division.

And, uh, You're going into a holiday weekend where things are getting ready to ramp up.

The heat's getting hot across the country.

You're starting to look at the break and the deadline and all those things where a lot of movement really probably needs to take place.
