Noah WeberGuestMavs Film Room HostHostBefore we get into our rapid-fire portion of the podcast, I want to start with the report that came out today from the Mark Stein Substack.
Jake Fisher reported that the Mavericks, quote, have told rival teams that they are open for trades in either direction with their number nine pick.
When you read that report, what were your kind of thoughts? What were you thinking about?

Yeah, I mean, it was kind of expected from me, I would say, because there have been those rumbles of Dallas potentially looking to trade up for Aka.

And then, I mean, with it being a new front office and with as stacked as this year's draft is, I kind of expected Ujur and Schmitz to do their homework because, of course, they're not going to tell teams, hey, we're not looking to trade down, we're not looking to trade up, we want to stay right where we are.

And one thing about there being a new front office is like this team, it's like not necessarily their guys.

You know what I mean? Because like with Nico, of course, Anthony Davis was his guy.
And

Like they're going to explore all avenues to make this team as good as they can because I think we can both agree on that they're not one piece away.
Yeah, definitely.
And I think they should be having their options open regardless.
I kind of think the interesting part of the report too, was that the other teams in the top 10 were not necessarily looking to trade out of their spot, but the Mavericks were like the one team that were, according to the report, like willing to like trade out of their spot.
So to me, that means that they definitely have these guards in different tiers.
They're not just all in like one tier.
If their guy doesn't fall, they're probably looking to trade back and I mean, I don't know how realistic it is.
I keep talking about this, how realistic it is, like, based on his history of Sam Presti, like, trading 12 and 17 to move up three spots.
Like, that's more of, like, I have to believe it to see it.
But if that's on the table, I feel like you'd have to take it, especially if your guy's not there at nine.
And you can, like, get a guy that you might have taken at nine at 12, and then you can add 17 on top of that.
