Andy IhnatkoHostFlorence IonHostNow that I'm out of the iPhone 18 Pro, I have to tell you what was really hard with me, excuse me, what was really hard for me with this review.
Is that every point that I tried to make about maybe why Android would just sort of eke it out in this case, it was very hard for me to grasp those points this time around.
But then I'm running all these synthetic benchmarks, I'm doing all this battery testing, and I'm just like, oh, that's right.

It's not as though, Oh my God, this is the one that has that amazing rainbow colored light that, Oh wait, no, they did ship that.

Um, and yes, the, the iPhone has this, this new, like a multiple aperture, uh, lens on the, uh, on the camera, but mostly it's like, it's not that it's not like anybody who bought an iPhone 17 or pixel 10 last year, uh, are going to be kicking themselves for not waiting a year to buy this one or trading in their old one because, oh, they have the new one.

But the thing is, like, this is an opportunity for a phone maker to give them the same thing as last year, just better in all the ways that don't make it to, like, the feature sheet.

Like in the case of the iPhones, the things that I kind of – I don't know if it goes all the way to envy, but things that I wish that the Pixel would do better are things like battery life and things like thermals in the cooling system.

Like all these tiny little refinements that aren't going to convince you to switch from one phone to another, even if they were both Android phones, but makes you feel as though you're being taken care of by the manufacturer.

But that's something that I really, really wish I could feel about Google phones that I see in Apple phones all the time.
Listen, I'm not supposed to be cheering for anybody, okay? But I also do want to see some bona fide competition.
I love a good rally, okay? Love cheering at a jousting match, right? It's just for funsies.
And so watching what Google's been jousting with versus what Apple's been jousting with is...
It's hard because Apple is the one that has, you know, all like the Queen's money, all the Queen's gold.
And Google's jousting person and horse just are not as well equipped as one should be in that sort of situation, I think.
