Tesla Cybercab Discussion & First Reaction | EV News: Around the World

Uh, let's kick on with the first story of the day.

Let's talk about this because this is big news.

I mean, uh, and this is not the first robotaxi, obviously, that's launched in the world, but this is Tesla's first robotaxi.

Uh, this is the Cybercab, uh, doing tests in Austin, Texas in the US.

Uh, I'll just run the video.

Uh, this is Sawyer Merritt's, uh, approach to his Cybercab.

Um, and yeah, it's obviously very, uh, you know, it's a very minimalistic cab.

There are two seats only.

Um, but the Tesla screen is, is, uh, as people with familiar with the ecosystem would be.

Um, but, uh, I've seen a few other reels, and it looks pretty impressive, I must say.

Um, there's no steering wheel, obviously, um, in this shot.

Uh, and in other Cybercabs I've seen as well in, uh, in Austin.

But, uh, I do like the Lambo style doors as well.

Um, I wonder why they made it that way.

Is that just for space saving, Chris?

Um, access is a big part in the sense that it's, um... one of the big things that they haven't spoken a lot about is how accessible this vehicle is.

There is braille all over the door, buttons, um, in the boot.

It's actually quite a narrow vehicle.

Uh, it's not, um, the exact dimensions I'm not sure, but it is much narrower than an average Model Y or a Model 3.

Um, you can sort of tell when they open the boot, and you see some of the videos, it's actually quite narrow.

But it's enough for people if they're, you know, from a ridesharing point of view.

Um, but yeah, those doors.

But some say they extend out far too wide, so it would be interesting to see.

We know Tesla's made, uh, some very narrow gullwing doors for the Model X back in the day.

They open in places most doors shouldn't open in.
