Locked On Avalanche - Daily Podcast On The Colorado Avalanche
Oct 5, 2026 · 40 min · 15 segments
Colorado Avalanche flex their scoring power with back-to-back wins, igniting hopes for another dominant season. Is depth scoring now their new x-factor? Chris Micieli, Megan Angley, and Zach Pearson…
We'll get to the Eagles a little bit later, 'cause Megan covers them, um, also.
Um, but yeah, for the Avalanche, uh, two games in, I, y- you, you have a normal regular season to go.
Um, but after two games, I know it's just two games, uh, I always feel like when you're the, the, the favorite, and the Avs are one of them if not the favorite, um, it is very important to get out to a very good start.
And I think y- I know it's only two games, but you've kind of set a tone here in these first two games, uh, with just the, you know, the amount of goals that you can score, which is no surprise.
It's not like, oh, we had a, a short pre-season and we need some games to kind of like start gelling.
Um, but what do you think, Megan? Just overall picture after two games from the Avs, uh, what they're saying in the locker room.
It's a very business-like attitude too, which isn't really new for this group, just because their ambitions are beyond regular season results.
So I think there is an understanding that even with the high scoring games to kick things off, there's a lot of work to be done still, in part because we've only seen this group 11/7.
And so I think on the forward line side, there's some figuring out that they're doing obviously 5v5, but that also translates to power play.
And it's been a point of emphasis, at least around the media corps, that we're asking them about it a lot.
Because the drop-off is evident from game one to game two, it's going to be hard to get a power play to convert every single game.
Different penalty kills, different goaltenders, and just different chemistry that needs to be built.
So I know from that perspective, there's some tweaks that they're still figuring out, and I think they made big improvements, especially 5v5, from the LA game to the St. Louis game.
