Chicago Cubs 8-6 Washington Nationals: 2016 Rewatch - Ben Zobrist Mashes vs Max Scherzer & A $60m RP's Baffling Career

And yeah, like I said, it's going to be nice today to talk about a Cubs team that makes sense because heading into the start of the season, as we discussed in our first couple of episodes of this podcast, the Cubs were definitively the favourites to win the World Series and we are what now, 27, 28 games on this season? The Cubs are definitively the best team.

Yeah, this is number 28.

The Cubs are

definitively the best team in baseball.

And it's fun and it makes sense because the lineup is sick.

Lineup starts with Dexter Fowler, obviously sick.

Jason Hayward, not so sick.

And then we have Chris Bryant out in left.

Anthony Rizzo, he's hitting really well right now.

He's at fourth.

And then Ben Zobrist, oh my God, we'll talk a lot about Ben Zobrist today.

He's in the fifth hole.

And then we have Tommy La Stella back in as third base.

Our boy Javi is back.

He's playing shortstop this time.

after a brief stint at third base, which was very fun.

David Ross, catcher, and then Mr. John Lackey, aiming for his 2,000th career strikeout, pitching and hitting ninth.

Yeah, and Lackey is...

Lackey's been maybe the weirdest Cubs pitcher to start this season.

So coming into this game, he's got a 4-3-2 ERA in 33 innings over five starts.

He's had some blow-ups in games that they've won.

Last time out, he went eight innings, gave up two earned runs on three hits, only struck out two hitters.

And only worked 99 pitches to get those eight innings.

That was a 4-3 extra innings loss to Atlanta.

And on the mound against the Cubs, well, my notes for this game, I don't know if you can read them there.
