What began as a New Year's resolution on a Scottish beach became a campaign that helped change British law. Environmental scientist Laura Anderson (Young), known to thousands online as Less Waste…
Laura AndersonGuestAndrew C. ScottHostSo, I mean, you say because you go from the west to the east coast, of course, to Dundee.
So you have someone there praying for you and thinking about you, talking about you a lot, which I heard very often.

In Scotland, our undergraduate degrees are four years, which I know is actually a year longer than some of the other universities.

You know, I think when you are building up to the end of your undergraduate degree, it can feel like you're trying to put all of your time and effort into your final assessments and exams that you kind of maybe aren't quite thinking about what's next, what's the job that's coming.

And so a master's gave me a bit of an extra buffer year to kind of figure that out.

But also... just being really honest, I, you know, applied for some different jobs and lots of organisations said, you know, you're absolutely on the right path.

You're, you know, it's great that you've got this degree lined up, you know, you're about to finish and you've got great experience, but we've got lots of people that have got a little bit extra.

So maybe go away and try and do a master's or get some more work experience.

So part of it was really practical and it was actually saying, how can I give myself the best chance of a job afterwards? I will say I also, was very blessed at the time that we were still within EU funding.

So there was also scholarships that were funded by the European Union that were available.

And so for me, it kind of made going and doing a master's financially available as well, which I know funding in the academic spaces is not the same as it was back then in 2018.

But for me that also opened up that opportunity because it's a big investment in your young life but for me that opened up the chance to go and I managed to take that opportunity.
So now you must explain, because of course, being from an older generation, I'm not into this, but you suddenly got involved in social media.
