The Renewal of All Creation

But, you know, we are now in the waning days of Elul.

We're in the last week of Elul, and, uh, the time is just so intense, Jim.

This whole period is, like, so powerful, all the different energies that are, that are going on now spiritually.

But you know what? This is not only the last week of Elul.

Mm-hmm.

This is actually something else entirely.

In fact, as it happens, today you and I are sitting down to pre-record our program, which is generally published on Wednesday of, uh, usually.

Today actually is Monday, when you and I are going to mic, and today is a very special day in Jewish tradition.

Today is the 25th day of the month of Elul.

Ah, yes.

And that is, uh, a, an incredibly amazing day, because it is the first day of creation.

Mm-hmm.

Yeah.

How do we know that? Because Adam HaRishon, Adam, the first man, was created, not born, but created, on Rosh Hashanah.

That's the whole a- that aspect of the mystique of the first day of the year, Rosh Hashanah, is that it's the birthday of Adam, and therefore, it's the birthday of all of us, because we're all Adam.

We're all his children.

But he was created last.

Yes.

Right? So, and that's Rosh Hashanah, so we count back the six days of creation, and we come to the 25th day of the month of Elul, which happens to be today as Jim and I are recording, and that is so am- amazing to think about that.

Yeah.

Because today is the day [laughs] when God said, "Let there be light." So today is the day in the primordial thought of the beginning of creation, and the beautiful parallels that we find in the creative process and in our own situation, you know, that first Hashem created light, and then he separated between light and darkness, and he separated between the waters, and all, and, and, and then life began to blossom forth.

We could really do a deep meditation and find parallels to all of these things in our own lives this week.

And indeed, the great mystic sages su- suggest certain prayers during this week, because this is a special time.

This is literally the beginning of the new world.

This is the, this is the pre-beginning of creation itself.
