The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because he hath anointed me.

It's the Messianic prophecy, but it applies to every believer in Christ.

Anointed to preach good tidings to the meek.

He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives.

And so the telling phrase that I mentioned, that is the phrase, "We hoped that he would be the one to redeem Israel." Now, I want to say this.

Their Messianic hopes were not wrong.

The promised Messiah is going to redeem Israel.

But on the other hand, they are wrong at the same time, for their view of the Messiah was truncated or condensed to the things they wanted.

All the time.

But the Almighty wants the Jewish people to be doing what they're supposed to be doing and making the world a dear bitachtonim, a dwelling place for God down here with ultimately a purification of the world and the coming of the Mashiach, the Messianic era.

So Hashem then, it's not a pass.

Hashem doesn't say, okay, this time I'm going to let you off with a warning.

Some of you all do not, and you really do need to be considering acquiring it.

Now, what does today's Messianic community do about the Jerusalem Council of Acts 15? For the most part, our examination of Acts 15 as a community is limited to Acts 15, 19 through 21, with a huge amount of attention given to verse 21.

And there are many people who draw conclusions about Acts 15, the Jerusalem Council, and yet they almost never examine Acts 15 verse by verse.

Consider what different examiners have said, mainly evangelical Protestants, also some of the opinions out there in the Messianic community, what the trajectory of the Apostolic Decree actually involved.

And this is what I think is even more important.

How much or how little were the four prohibitions of the Apostolic Decree actually followed, particularly as seen in the Pauline epistles? So, the commentary Acts 15 for the Practical Messianic was originally produced as part of our old Wednesday night Bible study podcast series.

This is demonstrated for us in Luke's genealogy.

Remember in the Gospel of Luke? And you'll notice there that I've underlined names that come straight out of Genesis 5.

That is very obvious for a lot of people.

But it's also Messianic in the wider prophetic sense.

and it reveals all three of the members of the Godhead.

This is not a picture of Jesus becoming divine or becoming the Son at his baptism, but it is part of the inauguration of the phase of his public vocation in which his sonship and his messianic commissioning and the endowment of the Spirit become manifest together, and it kind of kicks the whole thing off, right? So after the baptism in the book of Luke, in chapter 4, we have a sequence here.

The disciples don't become additional little mini-Messiahs in Jesus' unique sense, but their mission participates in his, because the Spirit-anointed Messiah creates a Spirit-empowered witnessing people.

So Pentecost is not just the day on which a whole bunch of people receive a personal spiritual resource.

It's the public extension of the Messiah Spirit to the Messianic community.

All right, so let's go back into temple theology here.

What are some important points about the genealogy here? So we've just read through that in Genesis chapter five.

Well, the Genesis five genealogy is vital for tracing the Messianic line from Adam to Christ, okay? This is demonstrated in Luke's genealogy of Christ in Luke chapter three.

You will notice those names underlined there are from Genesis five.

So don't, uh, lay aside the genealogies of the Bible.

So they did have it, but they're saying now they have a new one that will reach the new generation that speaks more of their language.

The Trinitarian Bible Society, based in London, presented the latest revision of Franz Delitzsch's Hebrew translation of the New Testament to Messianic leaders and others gathered at the Yad Hashmona on Monday.

A second event to introduce the new edition is scheduled September 4th.

So there were Hebrew writings in the New Testament.
