What Is Required For Salvation?

No matter what type of Christian you are, you're going to hell according to some other branch of Christianity.

Seriously, Whether you are Protestant, Orthodox, Catholic, there is some group who will tell you that you aren't really saved.

You see, there are Protestants who will point to some specific doctrine or idea, and they will say, if you reject this idea, you aren't saved.

For example, I've been told by a reformed Protestant that because I don't think that the Father poured out his wrath on Jesus at the cross, that I apparently don't believe in a Jesus that saves.

So apparently I have compromised the gospel and my salvation is at risk.

There are Protestants who will claim that if you think a person needs to be baptized to be saved, then you aren't saved.

Catholics have made statements about how if you knowingly reject certain beliefs about Mary, such as her Assumption or Immaculate Conception, you're anathema, you're cut off from God, your salvation is at risk.

If you refuse to venerate icons, according to 2nd Nicaea, You're anathema, cut off from God, and that's a counsel affirmed by Catholics as well as Orthodox.

So, my listener, you are in a pickle.

No matter what theological position you become convinced of, there is somebody who will tell you that this will lead to your damnation.

There will be some accusatory finger pointing your way.

If you're a Protestant, you'll have both Orthodox and Catholics potentially waving their fingers and telling you that you're going to hell.

If you pick Orthodox or Catholic...

Then some Protestant will tell you that hell awaits because of your doctrines about salvation.

In fact, some Catholics and Orthodox will even point fingers and declare each other damned, right? So this is kind of like the Spider-Man meme where the Spider-Men are all just pointing fingers at each other.

Now, this might reasonably cause some distress.

This might cause some anxiety.

I mean, eternal damnation and suffering is on the line.
