The Top 5 Things That Need To Change In Scottish Football

Now, with a lot of this, or the idea for doing this kind of top five is... was kind of being brought on by this SFA meeting that's going to happen in a couple of weeks time at St. Andrews, which is hopefully like a really exciting opportunity where the great and the good of Scottish football can all come together and discuss positively all these amazing changes that can be put into place.

So hopefully we can almost set out a little bit of an agenda, like the things that we as fans really want to see and, But a big focus of what they're going to be talking about is player pathways.

Now, I don't need to go over the problem on this because everyone is very much aware of the massive issue of the lack of minutes for Scottish players playing in the top flight in Scotland and specifically under-21 Scottish players.

It has been appalling for so many years and it's taken a long time.

for people to wake up to this.

But this problem has been here for so long.

I was trying on the drive here, I was like, I was trying to remember like, when was it like when I could actually say, oh, that was a really good time where there was loads of young Scots playing in the top flight.

Anyone? I was trying to think back to like the 2000s maybe.

it's some significant time that we've I think every time you see the social media post of right how many teams are giving how many minutes and your soul dies a little bit more is that each team it's just yeah that little bit less

I'm sure Haas said quite a lot that the season we got relegated when it was just one of the seasons and it was just like you know a case of like playing a lot of youngsters but I think that was just more force really and sort of choice I guess so

Yeah.

And you had Dundee United back when Andy Robertson and Ryan Gould and Mackay Stephen

was that part of it? Almost the tail end of that DNA of the club.

I mean, I grew up in the 80s watching in North East Fife, watching a lot of Dundee United games.

And they were amazing because it was just a conveyor belt of young guys coming through.

And really, when the guys you're talking about there were coming through, that was a tail end.

They'd stopped it.

They kind of resumed it for a while and it kind of petered out again.

That's maybe very unfair on them.

But yeah, it seemed to be that was just normal back in the 80s and 90s when I was watching football.

Now it's the exception.

Yeah.

Yeah.

So pretty sorry state of affairs, but at least everyone's aware of it now.
