Holy Spirit in Exodus | Kathrine Chow | HTB Livestream

I want to anchor our time together in the Book of Exodus, looking at the life of Moses, and we'll unpack together the story of Moses, the song of Moses, and the surrender of Moses.

The call of Moses, the courage of Moses, and the consecration of Moses.

But more than this talk being about Moses, this is about who God is and what God does.

That God is powerful, and personal, and proximate.

That God has always longed to dwell in the midst of His people, and God longs to move towards us in love.

The book of Exodus in the Old Testament is a very important book in the Bible, and there are themes throughout Exodus which talk about God's presence and God's promises.

It is a book that ultimately points us to Jesus, the one who was greater than Moses.

And it's actually very difficult to understand why Jesus had to come completely and what Jesus accomplished for us on the cross without understanding the story and the symbolism wrapped in the Book of Exodus.

Because Exodus tells us about a God who hears our cries for help.

The book of Exodus tells us about a God who longs to set people out of slavery and into freedom.

A God who deeply cares for His people and leaves us with His presence.

A God who invites us to be part of a community that lives from a radically different worldview, defined first and foremost by who God is and what God does.

That He is a God who is above us, and among us, and moves towards us to meet us where we are at.

God is both powerful and personal.

You see, if God is powerful but not personal, we can never know who He is.

But if He's personal but not powerful, then He isn't really God.

Now, how can we prioritize God's presence over our own performance, over our own preferences, and over our own priorities? How can we prioritize God's presence in this season? Well, the first thing we do is we remember our story.
