6/22 ASTRO POD featuring Brian McTaggart

What fueled that love of sports for you? You grew up in Houston.

Was it your dad?

Yeah, I think so.

My dad was a huge sports fan.

He was born and raised in Ireland and was a huge soccer fan.

So when we came over to this country, I was really little.

We settled in Pasadena.

I think just out of curiosity, he decided to go go find out what baseball was about.

It was probably really cheap back then.

Well, it was really cheap back then.

We're talking the late 70s.

You could probably get in for a buck or two.

The Astrodome was only, you know, six, seven miles away from our house.

So I can envision him just dragging me in the car and let's go see what the Astrodome is all about.

And I do remember going to an Astros game probably – Oh, 77, 78.

Yeah, I remember they were playing the Dodgers, I think, because Steve Garvey was...

Dusty

Baker.

Yeah, Dusty Baker.

Yeah, Steve Garvey, I think, was on a cereal box that I had at home.

And I was like, that guy, I just saw that guy doing something down there.

And so it kind of stuck with me, but...

I played soccer growing up my whole life.

My dad was my coach.

But we always watched baseball.
