It's about jumping through hoops and trying to follow procedures to try and get closer to God.

But what we see in the biblical narrative is that God actually writes himself into our story so that we can truly know him the way we know ourselves.

How much love would the creator need to have for his creation so that he would choose to take on the very nature of his creation in order to bring his creation back into a state of completion and fulfillment? That's a lot of love.

So we can see that in the life of Jesus, we have this divine blueprint of not only a reflection practically and physically of the heart of the Father, but also a physical representation of what it would look like if someone was fully surrendered to the will of the Father and walked like that on the earth.

The Bible says that he left his glory and he came and he put on carnality so that he could dwell amongst us.

And then when he was baptized by the Holy Spirit, he was placed into the same position that every single one of us is placed in when we get born again and baptized in the Spirit of God.

The only difference is that Jesus was born with the seal of the Holy Spirit because he was born of the Spirit.
