Looking at the world around us, you may wonder, is God simply pocketing his whistle? Does he even see or care enough to do anything about the evil that surrounds us? Peter's response to these questions is that God knows how to rescue the godly, and that he is reserving the wicked for punishment, because that is exactly how he has acted all throughout history.
