It's time for the Americas leg of the 2026 season, kicking off with the 2026 United States Grand Prix, and Kimi Antonelli's first best opportunity to win the 2026 World Driver's Championship. In…
But let's talk about contracts before we dive into all things Cota with, of course, the Haas announcement that they have signed Rafael Camara to replace Esteban Ocon next year in the second seat alongside presumably Oli Behrman.
That contract is still being hashed out, apparently.
Obviously, Ollie Bearman is kind of being looked at as like the driver in waiting for Lewis Hamilton's seat.
This could signal that Camara is coming on to be the follower for whenever Charles Leclerc decides to move on from Ferrari.
But anyway, back to Camara.
He tested in the Haas 2025 car in a testing of previous car session at TPC back in Portimao in August and was considered one of the contenders for the seat alongside Jack Doohan, probably also Rio Harakawa and a couple other drivers.
It doesn't surprise me the Haas went with Camara.
I think that he is... one of the strongest driver contenders looking at who's available in Formula 2.
He's currently in the lead of the F2 Championship by seven points.
There are a lot more points left to go.
And with the way that there are so many opportunities for other drivers to do well, it is not a sure thing that Camaro will win the F2 Championship, but it is likely.
This guy, he's really solid.
He's got some really great credentials.
And since joining single-seaters in 2022, he has finished on the podium at the end of each competitive season seven of eight times.
There was one time he finished off the podium, he finished fifth.
So this guy knows how to win and how to do well.
Now, the last two race weekends for the Formula 2 Championship are Qatar and Abu Dhabi, which have been reconfirmed for the millionth time by F1 that those races will be going forward in spite of what's going on in the Middle East right now.
And I also do think that they will announce it as late as humanly possible if there is going to be a change.
Back to Kamara, though.
If Haas gives him a competitive car to have both Oli Behrman and Rafael Kamara in these seats, this could be a really strong driver lineup for 2027.
