I spent my life studying the genocide.

Rwanda, Darfur, I was there.

I don't run from fights.

This is the scariest fight I've ever been in.

I know [laughs] what the genocide is, how it proceeds, uh, what are the laws, uh, what it smells.

I know the genocide of the, the past, and I know the genocide of today.

Rwanda, Darfur, I was there.

I saw.

We are Ben and Lena and we cycled with Ellie Mitchell-Heggs through Namibia.

We've also met Miriam in Rwanda and although we didn't meet Rob McLennan, I was lurking in the Cape to Cairo WhatsApp group leading up to our trip where we picked up some incredibly good tips from him.

So Fossey documented her life and scientific discoveries in her 1983 book, Gorillas in the Midst, which was later adapted into a successful 1988 Hollywood film.

On December 26, 1985, Fossey was tragically murdered in her remote mountain cabin in Rwanda although her killer was never definitively identified it is widely believed that she was assassinated by the poachers whose illegal activities she fiercely disrupted today her foundational research and the diane fosse guerrilla fund continue to protect mountain gorilla populations allowing them to slowly increase into the wild so allegedly she was murdered they never identified the killer that's the main that's the public story right according to the sands of time they used her gorilla to send through the jump room to the moon because they didn't want to send a human so they were going to test on the animal and they put him into the machine they turned it on and he phased out of reality he showed up at malabar transmitter annex on the moon but when he got there According to the eyewitness reports, he was moving in slow motion.

They were able to successfully make the jump, but he couldn't leave the time field.

And he was stuck in the time field.

And specifically, I think we need to stop thinking about like, well, Sia is one number and Chiradzu is another number, and then I'm gonna average them.

No, actually, what I wanna do is get a Sia number and a Chiradzu number and a number from Rwanda and a number from Uganda.

And what I'm trying to get at is the function that predicts that number.

And it's probably not even Rwanda as a whole.

Kigali, urban, much less slack than a rural area in the south.

Um, Uganda, massively varied landscape economically.

It's a really good question.

And I think that it's not wrong to say GiveDirectly has a more skeptical view of I would say kind of government engagement, certainly government engagement for its own sake than many other organizations I've worked with or for.

Then my family and I felt led to serve globally.

We weren't quite sure what it would look like and considered serving long-term as a family in Rwanda.

Our family stepped outside of our comfort zone and sacrificed many things during that time.

I'm a complete control freak, so the thought of facing the unknown with no line-by-line, minute-by-minute itinerary was scary to me.

We had no idea at the time that we would also be ridiculed by much of my husband's family.

My husband even received a very hurtful email from his dad disapproving of all the work we were doing and the goal of the long-term service in Africa.

As we continued to pursue God and our service in him, we finally went as a family and served in Rwanda as our own peace team for a short-term three-week trip.

It was amazing.

Yeah.

And the other thing that occurred to me, there was a leak from Number 10 that John Smee's going to Rwanda when the next fine hits.

And I just had an image of him in my head.

He lands in Rwanda, put him up on a podium with a mic, and he says, great to be in Rwanda here, absolutely fantastic.

Oh, well, he's picking in his with the watermelon smiles, looking at me.

It's brilliant.

And what they do is they couple this.

They've had all these deals they've made with various countries in Africa for third country removals.

And Cuban foreign nationals and Venezuelan foreign nationals have been sent there, and also people from Asian countries where we can't deport them, like China or Cambodia.

And so from that perspective, the case here involves, it's a First Circuit challenge to that.

What if you say, "Hey, I'm also going to be persecuted in this other country, such as, you know," wherever it may be, Congo, Eswatini, Rwanda, et cetera.

And so the First Circuit just issued an order because the Supreme Court had stayed a preliminary injunction.

So in that world, that meant that the preliminary injunction was gone.
