Host Tenayah McLeod and returning guest Renee Winterbottom hit the road for a candid chat about their unlikely friendship. Renee was instrumental in Tenayah's early career, opening the door to the Supercars paddock. While volunteering at Supercar events, Tenayah always had a camera close by, filming her brother racing motocross. She was also a devoted fan of Renee's champion husband, Mark Winterbottom, and Renee spotted a kid with real potential. Listen as the two look back on how an eager Frosty fan with an eye for social media and content turned her support of a driver into a career in the sport.

Moving to Melbourne and Getting Noticed7:24 – 10:05

Tenayah McLeodHost

7:24

Once I finished high school, I moved to Melbourne, knowing that that's probably, you know, if I wanted to work in supercars, it was probably the most likely option.

Tenayah McLeodHost

7:33

opportunity, place for opportunity, which it was.

Tenayah McLeodHost

7:35

Is that

Renee WinterbottomGuest

7:35

why you moved to Melbourne or because you got into university in Melbourne?

Tenayah McLeodHost

7:39

I only applied to universities in Melbourne.

Tenayah McLeodHost

7:41

Because you knew that's where the majority of

Renee WinterbottomGuest

7:43

supercar scenes were? I don't,

Tenayah McLeodHost

7:45

I just did the math.

Tenayah McLeodHost

7:48

Most supercars teams are in Melbourne.

Renee WinterbottomGuest

7:50

Tenayah McLeodHost

7:51

your age, was...

Tenayah McLeodHost

7:52

There was a couple.

Tenayah McLeodHost

7:53

Like, there was Red Bull.

Tenayah McLeodHost

7:55

Look, if I'm being perfectly honest, I was a Ford supercars fan, and it was Red Bull on the Gold Coast.

Tenayah McLeodHost

8:01

This was a couple of years ago.

Tenayah McLeodHost

8:02

Or it was Tickford, or what was called Pro Drive at the time.

Tenayah McLeodHost

8:08

You know, and pretty much everyone else...

Tenayah McLeodHost

8:10

There was maybe one other based on the Gold Coast, but now there's a lot more teams up there.

Tenayah McLeodHost

8:14

But most were down in Melbourne.

Tenayah McLeodHost

8:15

So I was like, oh, well, that's where I'll go.

Tenayah McLeodHost

8:17

That's where I'll be.

Tenayah McLeodHost

8:18

Gary Rogers Motorsport, who I ended up going on to work for.

Tenayah McLeodHost

8:21

It was probably about a year that I was down in Melbourne before I got a job in supercars.

Tenayah McLeodHost

8:25

I was still doing like volunteering and stuff and got a job with working for free with supercars.

Tenayah McLeodHost

8:33

And I did that and then...
