um so one up one down for those guys uh tickford we didn't end up getting into that garage after the race but

not a great day the highlight was reuben goodall in the first stint there yeah held his nerve um after that kind of clash between frosty and um and david at the start to be honest i know we should probably put our hands up here we were wondering if perhaps in those conditions given Ruben's lack of experience in the main game whether the team might decide to put Tommy Randall in the car and they didn't and Ruben was not the Tickford co-driver that made the mistake at turn one it was his uh these Tickford Autosport mentor and very experienced driver Mark Winterbottom and then from that point um Ruben um drove exceptionally well for a large part of that stint in those tough conditions again when you're at the front things do come a little bit easier to you but it was door-to-door with frosty and came out on top at one point which i think probably got frosty's attention and did a good job until eventually the conditions did seem to catch up with him a little bit had a few spins had a few issues again i don't mean that as any great criticism because he was far from alone on that but that was kind of the highlight of, of, um, Tinkford's day was, uh, was seeing Ruben piece together a decent portion of that first stint in the way that he did.

Yeah, I'm going really well, and it's kind of weird, Paves.

This is the hard part.

We've actually debriefed today at Tickford and you don't know where you're going to qualify.

So if your main driver qualifies on the front row and puts you in pole position, and you get a clean start, it's a room with a view.

So that's like really cool.

So that was Chaz's ex-race engineer at Tickford and moved over to Walkinshaw with him.

I think it's pretty cool.

But yeah, obviously we saw that brake failure.

So him and Waters, that will be.

And they

always, Tickford always go good at the bend.

Yeah, they've dropped off form a little bit again, haven't they? They came really hard at Darwin, Townsville.

And then kind of driving for someone else for the first time, really open my eyes how, how not, not how it should be, but how different it is.

Um, and obviously doing super two with Tickford has been a pretty big step up too, but yeah, it's funny.

Like even when we did that enduro together, obviously dad was talking on the radio and Just seeing next to him how he'd talk on the radio to you versus five minutes later talking on the radio to me is completely different just because you must get so emotionally tied to obviously your son driving out there, how funny it is.

Yeah, and I guess for you, what's your goal? Where do you want to end up? You want to become a supercar driver, I'm guessing?

Yeah.

But there's always like the, you know, us, the Groves, TA, you know, Tickford, it's, you know, Walkinshaw, whether it's not dropping a cylinder.

That's just the truth, unfortunately.

Now, I think everyone at this point could agree that it's... team and driver related.

We'll discuss whether we think it's team or driver more so after this, but I think it's fair to say the likes of Groves, even Tickford when they're on Triple Eight as well now, Shell with Brodie, they're just performing really well.

I think if you keep talking about parity, you're taking away from how well they're doing.

We saw how much Triple Eight sucked.

I don't necessarily think it's...

I think it's probably more team based and we've seen it.

And as you say, Tickford's the perfect case study for this.

If they're probably the four team that can be probably the most inconsistent, I guess.

But, you know, like it's, and, you know, even like Tickford, like Tickford, for example, everyone was going, where's Tickford gone? And then like three rounds ago, they just showed up and, you know, like front row, won a race at Darwin, won a race at Townsville.

I reckon it's, like, it's so, it's literally lifted the whole sport, I reckon, this format.

Like, it was so, for so long, where so many, like, there was a few teams that were dominant.

How many, we got, like, we got us, Shelby Power, you guys, Groves, Tickford.

Morgan Shaw.

teams like DJR, Tickford, Triple A, they are where they are too though because...

they don't stop looking for the one percenters like i know everyone's going to say how obvious that should have been defined and whether it is or not doesn't actually change the amount of work that went into find it they did not stop looking that the crew like every time i went in that car was stripped and they're looking for something you know you can

feel that on the weekend like i just as a guest they're hanging out the back you could feel everyone in the team and i don't know how many employees triple eight if there's a lot of people there

Um, this is a bit controversial and like I am, I'm a people person and I hate being bagged, but they'll probably bag me.

But, uh, I thought Tickford.

Yeah.

We, we were lucky.

We, you know, most of my pit stops I didn't have anyone around us, and, um, I think it was Tickford or War Control let it, Tickford let us drive through into our box a couple of times through their guys.

That made it so easy.

But like you say, it's not like the crew was set up, that they've got all their lines tucked in, they know you're coming out of there.
