And it's especially easy with something that feels so cyclical as this, because there's something so, I mean, of course we'll, and once we get into the plot, we'll talk a little bit more about how this was set in 2019 and wound up predicting a lot of specific things about 2019 for us, but it's, there's something, you know, people always say fashion is on cycles, but that goes beyond clothes fashion that goes for media fashion as well.
And we've been in such a prolonged period of 80s style material being mined and brought into the modern day, like we're in our third consecutive decade of 80s nostalgia at this point.
But Waiting until just now to see this was a really cool experience for me because I am the audience surrogate.
I am in comparison to you guys, not Unk, but still Unk in comparison to everyone else.

And so we would watch it pretty regularly, both the streamlined dub and the Japanese subtitle version, which I think I've very different reads.
We can get into that a little bit later, but yeah, this was one of those like, Even if folks were a little, much like Cowboy Bebop, it was an anime that people would go, well, not really into the genre, but this is my one exception that I really can appreciate, which I think is a huge accomplishment even now to break out of the baggage people have towards animation being a medium for children.
And it's finally, just within the past decade, I feel like we finally... breached the bubble entirely of anime just being considered its own genre.
You know, that's been sort of a slow burn, but we're finally there where people are not going to have to distinguish between film and anime anymore.
