I'm really glad that I finally did catch it because I've hovered over it on a certain person's Plex server that I have access to for literally like a couple of years now, especially around the Halloween holiday.

And I am really glad that I waited because this was a delightful experience and I cannot wait to discuss it with you all.

It brought to mind so many different, like, very distinct cinematic experiences i'll say um as like obviously the immediate reference for this podcast and for the trial in general is is hausu uh it's like what

Node.js, which we didn't even talk about, also had a vulnerability exploit added.

And then the other problem is that we're like patch all the time, but then this light LLM one had this poisoned latest release, right? Like Plex had another vulnerability as well that people could get into your Plex server.

So if you're running Plex and I run Plex and I was looking at that, And it's like, yeah, they patched it back in September.

And I keep my Plex docker pretty up to date, so I was already on the latest patch, which meant that I wasn't vulnerable when the exploit was released.

But with this light llm one if you're patching it and you pull the latest copy now you have a poisoned copy which is crazy right so it's it's really tough um i think i do think you do need to be up to speed on patching but you also need to like look through the patch notes and figure out like why why they're patching right and if there's no next point and all that so and that's something that i i'm not good at because we you know even for my own lab and in my own environment it's a lot there's a lot of things to patch and so at a major company it's even worse now at zscaler you know like there's different copies of our agent And as I'm talking to customers, most customers don't roll to the latest copy because there can be issues.

That's the same thing at Microsoft.

They just have them.

Plex server and upload in 4K.

which is really shitty.

Plex has commercials, but not that bad.

So actually, I have an ad blocker on my browser, so I didn't see any commercials on Plex, but I do know they have them if you watch it on the TV or

whatever.

Well, and I want to mention that Bear did pass away earlier this year.

So it just is what it is.

Oh, and by the way, if you had a Plex server, I don't actually.

Your Plex server might have actually been compromised and you now could be mining cryptocurrencies for hackers.

Because of a vulnerability specifically on Plex servers.

So needless to say, if you do have a Plex server, you might want to go ahead and get the thing looked at to see if it has been compromised.

And then maybe update to the latest version of Plex and then get ready for the Plex price to now go up.

Because it seems like any time something sneezes, the cost of Plex goes up.

It's also one of the reasons why I haven't really looked...

But that's what it's most famous for.

I kind of got reminded about it when I was talking to some friends about the kinds of things that I try to curate for my kids on the Plex.

That it's like, we try to find kids TV that is like, okay to have on for me to exist near.

And so I found a repository of a bunch of these episodes, sort of famously hard to find archives of Japanese TV that is just sort of on during the day like this.

It's on the Plex, and it will not be leaving my watch list because I'm going to make sure Michael gets it in 4K so that I can watch it again with all the Ks.
