Good evening.
My name is William Wolfe, and I am one of those Evangelical Christians that Jonathan was talking about, and it's, it's good to be here today.
I wanna start with a verse from Proverbs, Proverbs 27:6, "Faithful are the wounds of a friend, profuse are the kisses of an enemy." And a second Proverbs, Proverbs 22:3, "The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty." I think that's a good summary of the themes that we're discussing here on this panel.
I wanna thank Yoram for inviting me to be here.
I count Yoram as a friend.
It's interesting, in the run-up to this conference, I too have been labeled many things: a Nazi, an anti-Semini- Anti-Semite, a Zionist shill, and yet here I am in Israel, a weird place for a Nazi to be.
[audience applauding] Um, but I do, I wanna do a little bit of personal throat-clearing here.
Uh, just as a reference, is that the biggest applause that he gets this entire speech?
I mean, I don't recall s- what the applause was at the end.
A- as far as like the-
I only really, uh, uh, remember one or two applause lines going forward after this.
The applauses are pretty tepid or m- you know, dare I say flaccid even.
Like, they're not...
He does not get a whole, like...
There's no standing ovations here for his speech, and I think even though he's speaking to an audience that he's not trying to alienate, I think he knows that the real audience is gonna be the people watching this online.
I could be wrong about that calculation, but, you know, in terms of the broader picture, uh, he knows who his audience, uh, really is, in a sense.
But, uh, anyway.
But that's just a l- I'm just trying to do a, a benchmark of... 'Cause I have watched the whole thing, and that seems like it was one of the larger applauses in the, uh, entire video, was for cheering the fact that he was in Israel despite some dubious accusations made against his character.
As well, uh, first of all, Yoram has not seen a single word of these remarks.
[laughs] [audience laughing] So my remarks were not screened.
Nobody told me what I could or couldn't say.
Nobody obligated me to be here.
I'm not here, and this is more to m- some American friends I have overseas currently in my home country, I'm not here as any part of a containment effort on the right.
I'm here because I try to be a good and loyal friend, and loyalty is an important political virtue.
Of course, my loyalties are first and foremost and always with the United States of America and no other country, [audience applauding] as it should be.
