#20 - Harvey Guillén: You Are the Mold, Stop Trying to Fit Into Someone Else's

Welcome to a spectacular and hilarious episode of *Entre Acts* with host **Linedy Genao**! This week, Linedy is joined on the couch by the groundbreaking, Emmy-nominated powerhouse **Harvey Guillén**. The two kick things off with a fast-paced round of dominoes, swapping stories about awkward, text-driven Google search rabbit holes and why Harvey's dream superpower is flying—solely to bypass the brutal gridlock of Times Square traffic. Harvey passionately defends the superiority of Los Angeles street tacos, recalling $1.25 Tijuana-style trucks parked in autobody lots with fresh, hand-made tortillas that New York simply cannot replicate. Shifting into the heartfelt middle of the *sándwichito* format, Harvey gets vulnerable about the heavy psychological weight of the "POC and Latino work ethic," detailing the deep-seated guilt artists often navigate when they need to take a sick day or rest. He opens up about the massive structural differences between industries, comparing the grueling marathon of an eight-show Broadway week to television and film, where it can take two years to see a final cut. Harvey shares the jaw-dropping reality of voice acting, revealing he never actually met his legendary co-stars Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek until the premiere night of *Puss in Boots: The Last Wish*. Harvey delivers a beautifully profound message to young artists navigating their own lean career intermissions, urging them to stop wasting time trying to alter themselves to fit a pre-existing description. The episode wraps up with an inside look at the wild history of Studio 54, including a backstage tour of his dressing room (the original home of Alan Cumming's "Club Cummings") and the building's legendary, unmovable cocaine vault. Harvey also shares his upcoming vacation plans to Ortigia, Sicily, before diving into a quick-fire round of *Rocky Horror*-themed "Bed, Wed, Dead". **Harvey Guillén** is a multi-talented, Emmy-nominated actor, producer, and trailblazer who made history as the first queer Latinx actor nominated for a Critics Choice Award. Widely recognized for his iconic, six-season run as the fan-favorite Guillermo de la Cruz on FX's smash hit *What We Do in the Shadows*, Harvey's extensive screen credits include standout vocal performances in major global franchises such as *Puss in Boots: The Last Wish*, *Blue Beetle*, and *Harley Quinn*. A fierce advocate for diverse storytelling and authentic casting, Harvey is currently taking the theater community by storm, making his highly anticipated Broadway debut as Dr. Scott and Eddie in *The Rocky Horror Show* at Studio 54.
