Mexican cuisine

Come bearing gifts, all right? Jesse, glad you're back.

We have the same sadness about our always go-to Mexican restaurant.

It was always busy and consistently had the best food and the best margaritas.

We would drive the 50 minutes to get to it and brought out-of-town guests many times.

And the homeless have taken over.

Apparently the place was called Benny's Cantina in Denver, Colorado.

I drove by my Mexican restaurant last night.

I, I know that I'll get over this loss one day, but it's not today, and it wasn't last night.

Anyways, I take her to this nice little Mexican place.

It's cute, it's chic, you know.

I just imagine you sitting there, like, completely pitted out.

Oh.

That was how Chris's first date with Carrie ended after they ate together at a Mexican restaurant.

but it's like, gosh, I really would like to, you know, I really want Mexican food and then, like, well-

I w- I'm trying to think the last time I went out to eat by myself.

Uh, more of a fast food.

It was like, um, uh, what's the Mexican place that's, uh...

Chipotle.

It blows me away.

I actually find a lot of inspiration in the Japanese cuisine and I try to find ways to incorporate it into Casa Playa, even though it's Mexican cuisine and just little bits and pieces here and there.

It's a

great food city.

I've been to many parts of Mexico, but I have not been there yet.

Don't sleep on it.

It's the best Mexican city, in my opinion.

It's the best.

That's why they're amazing.

More Mexican is not the guisada.

It's just salsa rather than enchilada sauce.

You fry your tortilla.

You put it on that sauce, roll up some cheese.

That's the real Mexican one right there.

Yeah.

When I moved here, I really believed that, like, cheese enchiladas were for kids.

Two, an American striking a random conversation is normal.

And three, Mexican food is the most American food out there.

I didn't realize how special Mexican food in California was.

I just assumed it could be replicated everywhere.

After moving to Australia, boy was I wrong.

Yeah, as an Aussie, sorry.

I know we do crap Mexican food.

Weirdly, it's so much better than it was 20 years ago when it was pretty much only Old El Paso.

Most people don't like that part.

They want, like, straight Mexican.

Now, a lot of these places I go are kind of, I would say, Tex-Mex slash

Mexican.

All right.

We've got to ask the question.

Oh, really? So how much

further in? Do I got to go to Monterey? Yes, Monterey definitely starts, yeah.
