And so today's question to begin the series is a really interesting one.

It's not so much of a question, but more of a general sort of question around how we read scripture.

And I felt like this would be a great place for us to start in this series.

The question is this, how can I make sense of the Bible and hear God speaking to me when I read it? without it being complicated or difficult? That's a great question.

And before we get into actually exploring a way forward, can I just say there's so much that's awesome in that question.

It recognizes that when we come to reading the Bible as God's word, it's not always easy to make sense of what we are reading.

That's an important thing to acknowledge.

But also to come to the Bible with a desire to hear God speaking to us is a fantastic motivation or focus to have.

When we're reading the Bible, like God's heart is not just that we are accumulating information.

It's that we are actually connecting with him and hearing the voice of his spirit speak into our world as only he can.

That's right.
