Ryan and Crofton feel the need for speed as they ride all the roller coasters of the theme parks they visit… so long as they are in the kid's section! From spending cash to photos with mascots, theme…
Ryan MurphyHostBecause speaking of things that won't live forever, how about that video game industry, huh? Totally dumpster fire free fall.
So Ryan and I were talking before the show, we used to do these things like the state of the video game industry this year, the state of the State of games, the state of streaming, all of this.
And we haven't done one of those.
State of
Yeah.
Man, that was a bad week.
So I will say that we want to do this again because week after week, it just keeps getting worse for our good friend, the video game industry.
There seems to be never a good time to talk about it, so we're not doing it today.
But I did want to foreshadow, and I wanted to say the big news this week is out of our friends at Sony PlayStation who have said that they are not going to be as of 2028 publishing games on disc anymore which means that if you want to buy a game you got to buy it digitally uh from them on their electronics storefront they'll charge what they will um and this comes like a week after Sony, the very same company, took away a bunch of digital purchases from people because they had lost the rights.
I didn't even know this.
And this is how complicated these things are.
You can buy movies to rent to watch.
You're essentially buying the digital rights of those movies.
A lot of people bought... movies like Terminator 2 to watch on Sony through the PlayStation Network and all that.
You can get movies.
And they removed a bunch of movies from people's personal libraries the week before that they had paid for to own the movie, not to rent the movie.
They removed them and they said that they no longer had the authority to...
They lost the agreement with them the movie publisher so that they weren't able to sell the movies anymore.
But the people had already bought the movies and they don't refund them.
They just keep their money and take the movie back in the world of digital.
So Sony had done this a week before that it then announces, hey, guess what? Digital future.
we're not allowing you to buy games anymore.
