Eric Robison: Drawing Up a Dream

you speak through the art i'm looking at i'm sitting here and i'm looking at this amazing classic disneyland image with the Matterhorn still with the Skyway buckets coming through it and celebrating Disneyland.

And you just, you communicate through that medium so powerfully.

I mean, you speak very powerfully too, but visually, you know, we did some interviews here at D23, which were pretty funny because I learned, I learned something about you.

Actually, I learned this anytime I've sat in a restaurant with you, that all I need is a piece of paper in front of you.

And you cannot resist.

I can't stand it.

You can't resist drawing.

Or you can't resist drawing, right? I don't think I feel comfortable.

You can't resist a blank sheet of

paper.

I can't resist it.

And I've been alone this week.

like eating dinner and stuff, right? And I find myself, I just can't stand not having a pen in my hand.

I'm just drawing on napkins and stuff for people because I just, I don't know, I feel funny just sitting around with my hand full of hands, you know? I just don't know.

It's just a weird, it's kind of a weird obsession, I guess.

It's like you said, it's a, I'm more comfortable doing that.

Have

you ever seen, there's an old movie called The Red Shoes.

No.

Have you ever seen this movie?

Mm-hmm.

I'll tell the podcast the story of the red shoes, but it's about a ballet dancer.

She gets a pair of red ballet shoes.

It's a classic Hollywood movie, one of the classic Hollywood movies.

What she discovers is the shoes... have the power to make her dance and they make her a better dancer because the shoes themselves do it.
