This review isn't for you.

In my opinion, with it being a game adaptation, what that means is it should speak to its source material, represent its source material, without clinging onto it for dear life, without being completely intrinsically bound to it.

This does do that, in my opinion.

I think it gamifies cinema very successfully in a way that I personally haven't seen done as well before.

I was like, "Oh, this set piece represents exactly what Zach, Zach Cregger was trying to achieve in this movie." I'm happy to say that he achieved that.

I think there are other set pieces that aren't quite as distinctive.

The point is, though, that there's no holding back with the depiction of the gore, and it indulges in the gore in a way that I think is justified in speaking to its source material.

It's also got great jump scares, which is like, you, you, you just can't do this without having great jump scares, 'cause again, that is the experience of playing the game.

James Cameron's Aliens turned the original Alien concept into a full-scale action movie and gave audiences of Sigourney Weaver's most, one of Sigourney Weaver's most iconic performances.

And it's like.

I mean like James Cameron fucked everything up by making us all convert to like digital to screen avatar in 2009 or whatever.

And like, and I, I think that like kind of, I don't, I'm not saying that that was like that decimated all indie theaters, but I think that like it was this final swell of like the, the mega theater, you know, as it like continued to, grow into this unsustainable place, I think.

And I think, you know, there's like a new theater that's opening up in Bushwick that we just did like a co-presented event with them.

So I had to market the first Avatar movie, James Cameron, with the Na'vi tribe.

And I think you've probably all seen that movie.

And not only did I think we're all going to get fired because it was a negative $550 million pickup and we made something like $87 million the first weekend.

Yeah.

So we did, we are fresh off of Cameron and I've, I'm beginning to realize we've just done a lot of James Cameron to the point where we may as well have done a director series on him.

I met Roger Corman, who is an amazing... like the giant of filmmaking because he's made so many movies and, you know, he's made some great films.

He's made some schlock, but he, you know, he makes movies and he started so many careers, Joe Dante, James Cameron.

Um, and I asked him in an interview, it was like, how do you feel about, um, such shows like Mystery Science Theater where people watch some of your movies and they just make fun of them and they kind of poke fun or tear them down.

And he looked at me and got really serious and he goes, I'm a filmmaker.

You know, from kind of that point on, on, the PC culture kicked in and they no longer jeopardized kids or left them alone or let them get kidnapped.

When James Cameron hung Eliza Dushku off the Harrier jet in True Lies, that was satire.

That was insane.

Do you remember when we used to put children in jeopardy in movies for a plot point? You know, it pinnacled in Space Camp when we shot those damn kids into space.

And then the second one is like, oh, you see plenty of the xenomorph and you get the real atmospheric sort of planet.

But then you have all of the things that I don't really like that James Cameron brings, you know? Like what? kind of just actiony and then there's marines and I know that the point of the marines is to be like picked off by this you know apex predator but it's like

it kind of makes it

too heightened and goofy and actiony do you know yeah and that's why I feel the third one actually hits the note pretty perfectly um I'll make sure that you're recording Because if something happened, like your audio might get fucked up.
