GETTING A PHD IN THEOLOGY WITH CLEMENT HARROLD Crash Canon Podcast Ep. 081
Clement HarroldGuestChrisHostThat's that's an awesome thought, an awesome thing to study, because I think a lot of people forget Christianity at the base includes a lot of suffering.
And people don't they really don't think about the fact that we are suffering with Christ for our salvation.
That's that's part of it.

And that, I think the way you put it, that's a very Catholic way of understanding that suffering.

I think that's really the authentic way of interpreting the gospels is that we're called to suffer with Christ.

And that brings in this whole idea of not just imitation of what Christ is doing, but participation.

And I do think that a Catholic theology of the cross offers a much deeper understanding uh and more kind of hopeful understanding of human suffering than than any other kind of branch of christianity
100 and uh not to uh be a little imitation of christ since you said we're not an invitation in that way but the imitation of christ is a great book if anybody wants to kind of really align themselves with the life of christ i think they should read that book pray on it meditate all that

What does that mean to be a member of someone else's mystical body? And then how is it that we kind of Yeah, that we actually get to participate in Christ's salvation of the world.

And that means that all of our suffering, no matter how kind of useless or random or absurd or unimpressive it may feel, all of it has value.

So, yes, I think a very Catholic idea of imitation is something that we that we need to recover.
