Welcome back to Conservative Crossroads, the program where conservatives lean into their differences rather than deny them.
I'm Henry Olson, Senior Fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy and your host for this program.
This week, we'll be talking about the nomination of Todd Blanch to become Permanent Attorney General of the United States.
That's controversial because in part of Mr. Blanch's prior role as President Trump's personal attorney prior to the time when he was sent back to the White House after the 2024 election.
Arguing in favor of Mr. Blanch's confirmation is Mike Fregoso, a fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center.
Arguing against the confirmation is Andrew McCarthy, former prosecutor, Southern District of New York.
Each person will have five minutes to make opening statements, followed by 40 minutes of mutual question and answering.
We will then have two minutes in reverse order to have closing statements ending our discussion.
Because this is a clear yes-no debate topic or discussion topic, I've asked that Mike start off by arguing why Blanche should be confirmed.
