This was inevitable...

Let's start with the most important piece of info, though.

Ian Rapoport was on big day with Peter Schrager just a few hours ago, and he was asked directly about Josh Simmons, and he revealed, quote, I don't know if he plays for the Chiefs again.

I don't know when he plays for the Chiefs again.

And he tied it back to the one thing that matters most in the building.

He said there's nothing more important than protecting Patrick Mahomes.

And he made it clear this isn't about talent.

He called Simmons about as talented a left tackle as you can find.

And that's what makes this whole situation so strange.

Think about who's saying this.

It's Ian Rapoport.

He broke the meeting story Sunday morning about how there was, you know, upset Andy Reid with Patrick Mahomes and Josh Simmons.

He's not guessing.

He is very plugged in.

And the future of Josh Simmons now seems very much so in jeopardy.

Now, earlier today, there was a report from Nate Taylor of The Athletic, and he was asked if there's a chance that Simmons never plays for the Chiefs again, and his answer was one word, correct.

Now, Andy Reid has been clear about one thing.

After the Seattle loss, he said things happened.

That's not the reason he's on the IR.

He's got a bad back, and I believe him, obviously.

I think Josh Simmons does have a bad back, but that doesn't explain the multiple reports about disgruntleness behind the scenes, and maybe more importantly now, Ian Rapoport coming out, and revealing that unfortunately, it seems like maybe the relationship has gotten too far to repair.

Now let's look at how we got here.

The Chiefs drafted Simmons back in 2025, 32nd overall, which was the last pick of the first round out of Ohio State.

Then last October, he left the team for what Reed called a family matter.

He missed four games, and then on Thanksgiving in Dallas, he dislocated and fractured his left wrist.

Left wrist, just like that, his season was over.
