David Eby called a provincial election yesterday, which kind of upsets all of our local coverage.

I know the president of UBCM had issued a statement calling on the province not to go into a provincial election because it will upset the municipal elections but i think a lot of candidates are still really annoyed because it's going to be extra hard to and i know the journalists are annoyed to have to cover so much politics all at once

I never thought I would say it, but can we please stop having elections? And I know that certainly I think Team and ABC both put out statements as well, basically criticizing the premier for calling the election now.

You know, those are also two parties who have very adversarial relationships with the province.

Yeah, and it's tiring, right? From the journalist side, from our side, I want things spaced out.

But from the candidates, the volunteers, the people being asked to put up signs and put up money, it's just going to be a very busy four weeks as we get into...

I guess it's just over three weeks until the Vancouver election and then that final period until the provincial election on October 24th.

Just this afternoon, he put out a video on his Instagram saying how much the Evict Ken Sim campaign materials, including the website that criticizes him for going after the poor, has hurt his feelings.

You know, we can obviously feel for maybe his family, if that's something that's affecting them.

But the reality is that this is a mayor who has done a lot of harm, frankly, with a lot of his policies.

And really, it's notable that Sims' affordability platform essentially entirely hinges on the 0% property tax increase that they passed for 2026 and a promising again in 2027 if they get re-elected.
