David Eby wouldn't budge when reminded the PST expansion will hit those very same services.

That's the nature of a province that's shifting from direct products to services in terms of the tax base is a necessary step that had to be taken.

Yet with the impact of the tariffs and counter tariffs, the opposition argues scrapping the PST expansion is a no-brainer.

Donald Trump is making our business climate worse and I don't know why David Eby insists on helping him.

But the province shows no signs of changing course on what is widely seen as an untimely and unwelcome cash grab.

Only a few months ago, the BC Conservatives were well-positioned against the NDP government as Premier David Eby's approval ratings plummeted.

But a total of ten Conservative MLAs have recently quit.

Much of the blame is leveled at their new leader, Carrie Lynn Finley.

But they said, "Look, if you'd spent the money that you're spending to build ferries in China, if you'd built the ships here in British Columbia, you would've been able to modernize the shipbuilding industry.

You would've created several thousand years of a person, of, uh, person employment, and generated more than a billion dollars in benefits, including government revenue." So they said, you know, "Stop talking about how, uh, you don't like, uh, having to do that," which is what David Eby said, and, uh, and you, in the long run, you wanna build the ships here again.

Well, stop talking about it.

Live up to your Buy BC thing, and from now on, go back to building the ships where they used to be built here in British Columbia.

That'd be a good idea.

How do you take the temp- how do you tell that to Wab Kinew, David Eby, Doug Ford, and Mark Carney, who m- who gain political points every time they ramp rhetoric up, and the media in Canada that just loves to, to ramp it up?

Here in BC, Premier David Eby held what was called a rally.

In the Inner Harbor, there was a ton of flags.

There was dancing MLAs.

So if I were the NDP and I put on my very rare NDP hat here, I would try to concoct a narrative, as Jeff says, around stability and the need for essentially a refresh.

So I absolutely think there is going to be a snap election, notwithstanding, again, that I've been wrong before, but it feels a little different this time, I believe.

It's amazing in a way, Gillian, this is a government nine years in power with just a ton of baggage and some incredible policy reversals that have been viewed as immense weaknesses against it in a sort of completely different direction in some ways that only a few months ago we thought David Eby was a dead man walking in the Premier's chair.

And now he's looking like the luckiest man on earth.

And the phrase they used was breaking point.

They want David Eby to stand up a forestry crisis action group with an actual real mandate, cut costs, clear regulatory barriers, and get timber moving.

And they want to freeze new provincial fees, taxes, and government-imposed costs on the sector.

The letter, they were careful.

These ones are brutal.

50% on manufactured wood products like plywood and veneer stacked on top of softwood duties.

But here's what David Eby needs to hear.

These groups said that many of the sector's problems are, and this is their word, homegrown.
